Veronica Carney

I’m originally from Los Angeles and was raised in the gang-ridden neighborhood of Boyle Heights. As a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault, I relocated to Alabama in 2013 with my husband, who had recently retired from the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4).

Here in Alabama, I began my work as a Hispanic Outreach Coordinator and Advocate, dedicating myself to supporting the Hispanic community.

Later, I founded Latino Hope & Advocacy LLC, where I help crime victims navigate the complexities of the court system.

I continue to volunteer as a Domestic Violence Advocate, especially in courtrooms, where I provide interpretation services and unwavering support to victims throughout their legal proceedings.

I also actively assist immigrants who are eligible for immigration relief due to their victimization.

I believe that now I am offering the help and hope that I never received during my own time of crisis.
